kunanyi (formerly Mt Wellington) rises majestically above the city of Hobart. It is so high, the lights of the city below seem small. The dark shape of the River Derwent snakes between the strips of lights and the shape of the Tasman Bridge is also represented. The severe climate at the summit is evidenced by the stunted alpine planted and weather-worn boulders. The area is criss-crossed by walkways and is often covered in snow. It is an ideal location to observe the expensive panoramic views and occasionally you might glimpse the Aurora Australis dancing overhead.
